And if activation is terminated by Microsoft (which I don't think it will be) you are morally if not legally entitled to use the corporate edition which doesn't require activation. Only retail, upgrade, and "full" OEM CDs require activation. If your computer is from a major manufacturer their OEM OS installation CDs are pre-activated. The thing is, Microsoft only mentioned that active support was terminated, but apparently they have chosen to leave the really old stuff on their servers intact.or at least, relatively intact. Why? Because only 2 days ago I visited the Microsoft website using the Windows Update tool on Windows ME from inside a Virtual Machine, and it still works Split9102 wrote:I still use Windows XP (I can't afford an upgrade and I don't like how Windows 7 breaks a few of my older games), so hopefully activation will still work after support is ended.
